In an ideal world, adult women are in a relationship with adult men. The man has traditionally been the provider and protector. Many times we women live in that ideal world and many times we don’t.
Whether or not you have that special man in your life, as women, we still need to be able to take care of ourselves, be self-reliant, aware of our surroundings and able to deal with nearly every situation that comes along. Why you may ask? Well, for a couple of reasons.
Reason one; a man cannot be all things to you at all times. He will want to, he will try, but he just can’t, no one person can ever meet another person’s needs.
Reason two, a man may not always be around, either due to travel, death, divorce, abandonment, or maybe that Mr. Right just hasn’t been found yet.
Regardless of the reason, it is so important for women to be able to be self-reliant. Now, with that said, it is a delicate balance to being self-reliant and not “scaring” off that special man. Men need and want to be needed, as women we must never make them think we don’t need them, we do, but we need to still be able to take care of ourselves, in conjunction. I digress; this blog is about women being self-reliant, not about the relationship issues between the sexes. For a better understanding about what a man needs a great resource is “For Women Only, Revised and Updated Edition: What You Need to Know About the Inner Lives of Men”
This blog is to share ideas, lessons, tactics and more on how to take care of you. Who am I to discuss these things? Well, I am a life coach and money management coach. I lived the single life well into my thirties, was married through my forties until my husband decided he no longer wanted to be a husband and left and we sadly divorced. Over the years I have learned how to be self-reliant, both through desire and necessity.
I am looking forward to sharing with you, hearing from you, and getting to know each of you as we all travel the journey of being self-reliant together.
